Brazil’s oil account, which measures the balance between exports and imports of oil, derivatives, and natural gas, reached USD 24.5 billion by October, according to data from the ANP (National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels) released on Monday (9th).
This result was driven by a 10.6% increase in oil exports and a 6.37% reduction in imports of derivatives compared to the same period in 2023. It marks the best performance on record for the first ten months of the year.
Adding the 2023 oil account total of USD 24.8 billion to the accumulated 2024 figure up to October (USD 24.5 billion across 22 months), Brazil has reached USD 49.38 billion.
This amount corresponds to 98.3% of the total recorded during the four years of Bolsonaro’s administration, which amounted to USD 50.2 billion.
