The president of Petrobras, Magda Chambriard, promised company investments in ship construction. In a speech at the inauguration ceremony on Wednesday (19), Magda stated that Petrobras will invest in a program that will boost both the company and the Brazilian naval industry. She emphasized that strengthening logistics is essential for the sustainable growth of Petrobras’ activities. Since 2023, discussions have been held with Transpetro, industry, and government agents regarding the possibility of building oil and gas tankers to form a fleet that operates for the holding company.
“We will invest in the expansion and maintenance of oil and gas pipelines, in waterway terminals, and in a ship construction program, ensuring operational reliability and generating value for Petrobras, the naval sector, and Brazil,” she said at the event, held at the Leopoldo Américo Miguez de Mello Research, Development, and Innovation Center (Cenpes) in Rio de Janeiro. The event was attended by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), the ministers of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, Finance, Fernanda Haddad, among other ministers, authorities, and union leaders.
On this occasion, Magda highlighted the importance of investments in exploration and production to finance the energy transition and announced the anticipation of the start of operation of the FPSO Maria Quitéria to the last quarter of this year, which will be installed in the Jubarte field, in the Espírito Santo portion of the Campos Basin. She assured that the company will follow the plan, valuing governance and robust business results, with the profitability and efficiency expected by the market and Brazilians.
“Our plan establishes the trajectory that the company will follow as a Brazilian leader in a fair and inclusive energy transition. In this transition, our oil and gas assets and our refining plants will be strengthened with consistent and timely investments, progressively reducing carbon emissions,” she emphasized.
